Fighting for Bitcoin Adoption with a Jet = Badass Amazingness

Not thinking much of it I found a reddit post a few months ago that pointed me to a Bay Area Man who owns a Bitcoin themed Personal Jet.  I thought it was pretty incredible at the time.  Now a few months later, I’ve seen the website and also see it being mentioned much more again.  And suddenly, my past boyhood dreams of being able to fly in the blue angels or even in an f-14 tomcat were re-awakened.  I decided to search for the contact information and send this little blurb:

bitcoinjetride

Purely curious, I may write something about it on my blog if you do respond.  Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

Frankenmint

And well, due to my lack of surprise I got this:

Good morning Frankenmint.

Thanks for reaching out.  Unfortunately, the FAA prohibits any of these jet aircraft from selling rides.

I am a pure evangelist and do not derive income from the jet. Any advocacy you can share will help us benefit the community.  Our common goal is awareness and adoption.

Thanks so much.

Mark

I couldn’t agree with you more.  So, after getting this and feeling a bit bummed, I looked into what it ‘would’ take to fly a jet.  There are many different tourism and linking companies, but the bottom line is that it costs anywhere from $2000 USD to $4000 USD (An hour of flight time and training and separate pilot orientation for cockpit) to fly either as a passenger or even to take flying lessons in a Jet.  Other than being cost restrictive it goes one step further for my case and perhaps many of my readers.  Taken from flyfighterjet.com:

What are the requirements to fly a fighter jet?

The requirements are the same for all jets we offer flights in:

  • You need to be of sound health – which means, most of all, no problems with your heart or spine
  • You shouldn’t be taller than 1.95 m / 6.4 feet or heavier than 100 kg / 220 lbs, even though this can vary depending on the jet fighter type
  • You need to be 18 years of age or have written declaration by your parents who must allow you to fly a fighter
  • You need to sign some paperwork (varies depending on the military jet)

From these standards, I have to lose about 100 pounds before I’m considered ‘fit’ for flight duty. I could do a B52 stratofortress or perhaps a XR-71 for Sure but those are surely out of scope for what I would like to try.  So I’m putting together a call to action:

I want fighter jet lessons in Bitcoin!

And also best of Luck to Mark for the upcoming Las Vegas Show which should be happening either today or tomorrow (from post date, check their website, linked above for future shows near you)
