I tried openbazaar a year ago and enjoyed trying it out – despite not being able to use it to see other markets. I even locked in a pledge of funds. Ultimately it was a royal PITA to try to get working and after I had it running, it never connected to anything, leaving me feeling bitter about the pledged money I put in to set my reputation. It’s been a year and I’ve decided to give it new try:
Out the gate it was much easier than I remembered and quite robust to setup, less than 3 lines of commands through the trusty terminal and I was ready to roll.
As we see here, it gave me a few errors, but that wasn’t a problem at all apparently:
In literal moments I was able to get into my New installation of OpenBazaar!
I was so excited to try things out that I didn’t bother snapping screenshots before uploading my profile avatar and snapping away into a few of the store settings, sending a pledge, and uploading a few different listings:
I got a little too ambitious here and posted a megaton (like 6) different products across an array of categories (including my standard rate consulting services as well as pre-investment marketing opportunity for other cryptocurrency businesses)
I Even went in as far as setting up my account to act as a Notary for any potential disputes.
Took a few moments, but I checked back in and saw my proof of burn pledge funds shown:
Do you use OpenBazaar or have you Just installed it? What are your thoughts about it? Be sure to check out my store, listed under GUID: 88f60c669339a713b19a8db1a1c0c0b4a1eb4a30
aaaanddd…Gasp…I was most excited to see other storefronts there at first, but now on further glance, they’re gone. I know I saw users there before! its a real shame that it seemed to work and now they ‘re sadly gone again. I attempted to close then reopen the software using:
./openbazaar stop
./openbazaar start
Perhaps this all happened because I was so thrilled to post products and report my findings rather than to just browse through markets. In any case, thank you YET AGAIN open Bazzar for taking what was supposed to be something beautiful and blowing it – down to the software not detecting my UPNP capable hardware.

Again, I cannot iterate this enough – its more painful to have seen that the stores were there and I can never know what was in them, than for the software to have never worked at all [shaking fist angrily at open bazaar for the lost time twice in two years now]
