Good morning Cryptocurrency Denizens of the Internet!
It’s hot today, and for that matter, everyday. And by hot, I mean, melting, sweaty, puddles of once ice cold water that profuse from my pores at an aggravated rate – for 23+ hours per day. My only remedy to this, undoubtedly, ‘1st world problem’ has been to shower and use the Evaporative cooling effect of airflow. Despite being quite hot, I find that when I’m soaked with water, the action of it drying off really helps cool down the body temperature. It could also have to do with the incredible amount of hair I’ve continued to grow out. (part of me has this half-baked plan to keep my hair growing out as long as I remain dedicated to bitcoin/cryptocurrency. It’s been growing since I started getting into bitcoin, which was March 2013.
But back to right here right now. As I type this, it is currently 96 degrees in my home, at 3:45 this morning and has only gotten cooler from the 98 degree madness I’ve been dealing with during the daytime. Both doors are open to allow open airflow and have been for this entire time. I have my setup near one of them so that the heat mostly dissipates near an opening.
Some things I’ve tried:
- Placing fans near the setup facing the door to push the warmer air outside. Hoping to cause a vacuum in air pressure that draws cooler air in. It seems to work, but the effects are minimal at best.
- Running several fans rotating air out of an adjacent room. This will cool things off by a factor of about 7-10 degrees. Due to my room not being truly separated, I’ve had to deal with the temperatures becoming unbearable at night if I keep the setup going but the doors closed (safety first.)
- Using water to cover my arms, hands and feet and sit in front of fans in said above room. Works great as a temporary relief from profusely sweating. (10-15 minutes at best)
- keeping fans on me at all times (works great when things are off or its cold outside, but normally it just becomes hotter air over time that slows down sweating, but is still quite uncomfortable.
- Turning off the units for small periods of time: this isnt a solution per say, but it definitely resolves my cooling and brings down the temperature quicker than a stone when I do it.
Keep in mind that my power situation has been maxed out for a while and I cannot buy a portable air conditioner at the moment as it will displace the footprint too far and push out against other power. (portable A/C could work, but I don’t really feel the desire to put more money towards the mining battle anymore). What are your cooling setup ideas and what have you done to address them?
